Rafa & Djok: Dueling Gemini Twins

Image

Rafael Nadal June 3, 1986 Majorca Spain 7:15 PM

Novak Djokovic May 22, 1987 Belgrade, Serbia 11:25 PM

The kings of the court these days are both Gemini. They have supplanted regal Leo Roger Federer, who like the Leo who reigned the decade before him, Pete Sampras, had an elegant, yet firm, grip of the sport and the loyal admiration of tennis lovers.

Now, like Gemini, the fans are split down the middle rooting for either the sexy and humble Spaniard, Rafa, or for the boisterous and determined Serb, Djokovic. They both have the Gemini qualities of being dexterous, articulate and changeable. But the similarities stop there, as their moon and rising signs reveal very different underlying personalities.

Rafa’s moon sign is the stubborn and consistent sign of Taurus. He enjoys having a routine and works tirelessly at achieving long term goals. In his off time, he relishes total relaxation. The rising sign in astrology symbolizes the external personality and how people are perceived. Rafa’s rising sign is mysterious and private Scorpio. He thrives surrounded by a small group of trusted confidantes and is strongly motived by internal feelings and desires.

Novak, on the other hand, has patient and hard-working Capricorn as his moon sign. Like Rafa’s Taurus moon, Capricorn is an Earth sign. This gives them both strong ambition and will power yet Novak’s Capricorn moon is more adaptable than Rafa’s Taurus moon. Novak’s rising sign is aggressive and fiesty Aries. Aries thrives on competition and winning and holds these as motivation.

So while Scorpio and Taurus lend Rafa a stubborn and private nature, Capricorn and Aries give Djokovic a more restless and assertive character. We see this on the court with Rafa’s intensity and Djok’s eagerness to engage the audience with his famous imitations. With the 2012 tennis season on the horizon fans are eagerly waiting to take their place on either side of the court.

8-8-2008: Numerology and the Olympics

August 8, 2008 8:08 PM Beijing, China

Today, the Olympic games commence in Beijing, China. And thank goodness for the Chinese being bold enough to make a big fuss over having the Opening Ceremony be numerologically-inspired. Obviously over there in China they like the number 8, a lot.

In astrology, the number 8 is associated with the planet Saturn. Saturn is the real no-nonsense school marm of the zodiac. You will get exactly what you deserve, exactly what you have earned, no more, no less= this is the MO of Saturn. But it is all about earning and rewarding and as such it has come to be associated with wealth and prosperity. Certainly those who work very hard, are disciplined, and respect authority will achieve status and material prosperity (right?); this is what Saturn, and China, espouses.

And this is likely the tone we can expect from the Olympics this year. Not only does Saturn play an important role with all of those 8′s in the picture (not only in 8-8-08 but also, 8+8+2+0+0+8= 26=8 ) but also because the chart cast for 8:08 PM, shows Saturn sitting directly in opposition to the ascendant. There is definitely going to be a feeling this year that the “worthier” of the opponents won, that the hardest working (though maybe not most impressive) should be rewarded and that judging be done meticulously and protocol be followed zealously. No Jupiterian feats of bravado and courage, but rather safe and predictable will rule the day.

The other player numerologically and astrologically is 7 and the planet associated with it, Neptune. First of all 8+8=16=7. Second of all, the rising sign for the games is Pisces, the planet associated with Neptune and 7, making Neptune the ruler of the chart. As such it’s placement is very important. It is in the 12th house, the house associated with Pisces. This house, planet, sign and number are all associated with illusion, deception, facades, illness, addiction, drugs, mysticism, vagueness and the gray area in general.

So once one is beyond all of the Saturnian formality of the games, there will be a bizarre cloudy feeling, as though nobody is really sure exactly what is going on. Strange illnesses, inexplicable absences or excuses, the feeling that things just seem a little bit off. These things combine to prove why people have been saying that the date is actually “unlucky”.

I wouldn’t say so much that it is un-lucky, just that it has none of the marks of joyous celebration (Jupiter) and competitiveness (Mars) that should be present during the Olympics. Peace-loving Venus is crippled next to stern Saturn (aka. as long as you know your place there will be peace) and feisty Mars is also in Virgo, not exactly the most athletic or competitive sign in the zodiac. The sun in Leo of course insures that there will be the appealing “hero” stories that everyone wants to tune in for but otherwise, expect some baffling failures and ho-hum championships.

In fact the entire chart for the games can be more or less summed up in the following analogy; 1990s figure skating. You how during the winter games when everyone would tune in and hope heroes (Leo) Kristi Yamaguchi or Nancy Kerrigan would finally bang out that gold medal? It was supposed to be beautiful and graceful (Venus) and have the illusion (Neptune) that what they were doing was easy. But all of the pressure and exactitude demanded by the judges (Saturn) would weigh the whole thing down like a ton of bricks (Venus and Saturn conjunct) and it would end up being just plain disappointing. Expect more of the same.

TOM BRADY

BIRTHDAY BOY

August 3, 1977 San Mateo, CA noon (*time unknown)

Arguably the most beautiful man in professional sports turns 30 today. With his sun in Leo, Tom Brady has been in the spotlight most of his life. His chart is very strong with Fire energy, as his sun is trine his moon in Aries as well as Neptune, planet of divine inspiration, in Saggitarius. Tom had a bit of a personal and professional crisis this winter, as his team, the New England Patriots, lost in the Superbowl finals, around the same time he broke up with his newly pregnant girlfriend, Virgo Bridget Moynahan, and took up with ubermodel Gisele Bundchen. Cancer Gisele had previously told a magazine that she had a crush on Tom. With his Venus, planet of love, in Cancer, these two make a happy couple.

Bridget is due to give birth soon to her child with Tom. If the baby is born in the next week, he or she will have their sun in Leo conjunct their fathers sun. This would show that he will indeed be a large part of the child’s life. The arrival of his firstborn child is heralded in his chart as his progressed Mars and Jupiter come into conjunction with his natal Venus in Cancer. Congratulations Tom and happy birthday!

The Beckhams in Los Angeles

JULY 12, 2007 Los Angeles, California 8:05 pm

The much anticipated arrival of one of Europe’s favorite celebrity couples to Los Angeles finally occurred just past 8 pm, Thursday July 12th when their flight from London touched down in their new hometown. Lets take a look at the chart for this event and see what their new life in the United States will be like. The sun is in Cancer in the 6th house, the moon is in Gemini, also in the 6th house, and the rising sign is Capricorn. David and Victoria were married on July 4, 1999 when the sun was in Cancer so this is a positive and familiar energy for them. The Capricorn ascendant indicates that their life in Los Angeles will revolve around business. This is re-inforced by Jupiter’s placement in the 11th house, the house of money made through career. Pluto is also in this house, which hints that there may be a transformation or change of strategy in their business venures. Pluto opposing the tight Moon Mercury conjunction in Gemini means that Victoria might be taking up a Gemini-related side job, probably working with a fashion magazine or hosting television segments, something media-oriented.

Family is another main theme here with the Sun in Cancer, the sign of home, children and family, and Mars, planet of action, in Taurus in the 4th house, the most private house in the chart and the natal home of Cancer. The placement of both the Sun and the Moon in the sixth house suggests that medical problems could put a damper on their life in Los Angeles. But paparazzi rejoice.. there is every indication that this move is permanent. Posh herself has stated that she hopes her and David will grow old together in California and the chart, beginning with the Cancer sun, supports this conclusion. Capricorn on the ascendant, sturdy Taurus on the 4th house cusp, and the Venus Saturn conjunction in Leo, show that the couple are setting down roots.

Life is indeed sweet for Aries Victoria these days and it is looking to get even better. In April 2008 her progressed sun moves from Taurus into Gemini and she will take her entrepreneurial ventures to a whole new level. And her relationship with Taurus David will be strengthened as well, as his progressed sun has been in Gemini for 12 years already. The moon in Gemini in the chart of their recent move to the United States again shows the strong Gemini influence, which radiates spontaneity, creativity and light-heartedness in the lives of these happy lovebirds.
