Fire Signs in Love: Adam and Leighton

adam-brody-600

New couple alert!

Fans of Josh Schwartz television- namely his two iconic shows “The O.C.” and “Gossip Girl”- are rejoicing today with news that Sagittarius Adam Brody and Aries Leighton Meester are in love. This is a dreamy astrological match! Or a firey one, to be more accurate- Aries and Sagittarius being two of the three fire signs know for their drama and courage (Leo is the third). Aries women like Leighton are bold and go after what they want. No shrinking violets here! She has historically been attracted to other confident fire sign men, like her ex Leo Sebastian Stan.

Sagittarians like Adam are adventurous and optimistic. And they have a notoriously great sense of humor, like Adam’s character Seth. Adam dated his Virgo costar Rachel Bilson for several years. Virgos are much more meticulous and careful than daring Aries, so Leighton is a better match for him.

Now if only Josh Schwartz could write a screen-worthy ending for this duo…

The Rob and Kristen Breakdown

Young Hollywood royalty ruptured last week with the announcement that Aries Kristin Stewart, had quite publicly cheated on her longtime co-star/boyfriend Taurus Robert Pattinson.

Aries women and Taurus men are a difficult match from the start. Aries women are impulsive, headstrong, and very independent. Taureans, by contrast, are slow, mellow and very constant. Much of this could be seen throughout their courtship, with Kristin seeming to keep Rob on his toes, while he relished just hanging out with her, downtime playing guitar and drinking beers with his mates. The Aries woman/Taurus man match can work when their social appetites are in line, which is why this did indeed work for a while- both choosing to keep a similar low key profile during their rise to superstardom.

But the Aries impulsiveness had be hard to curb, especially at such a young age. She may have found their life together quite simply boring after a certain amount of time, and was turned on by the excitement of an affair with a doting director. Taurus Rob will be finding this crack in the cement of his life extremely hard to deal with and it will take him a very long time to get over this relationship.

Drew’s Big Miracle

The lovely Drew Barrymore is taking another trip down the aisle. Drew is a Pisces, the sign associated with creativity, fantasy, romance, whimsy, photography, nostalgia and the magic of the unseen world. With her moon in another emotional water sign, Cancer, she is doubly impressionable, giving and sensitive. This has driven her lifelong desire for intense experiences, in life and in love. With their need to experience emotions deeply water signs (especially double water signs) can allow themselves to be overtaken, by passion or by drugs, which give a similar euphoria. While Drew won her early battle with substances (and emerged a rather well balanced party girl), she continued her quest for a perfect partner well into adulthood.

A teenage marriage was quickly annulled followed by another go at matrimony with Leo comedian Tom Green. This was followed up by longtime on/off relationships with two different Gemini men, first Fabritzio Morretti, then Justin Long. Whew, that must have been exhausting! Gemini men are notorious for being high energy individuals with lots of friends and lots of interests and activities. They are also clever, charming and well-spoken. Drew herself has Gemini as a rising sign showing that her exterior personality is very much in synch with the Gemini multi-tasking. However, these Gemini men may not have had the depth or intensity to satisfy her Pisces/Cancer soul. Similarly, she was likely attracted to the creativity and individuality of Tom Green’s Leo personality but when Leos are having difficulties they can become overly self-involved which did not satisfy her needs.

Truth be told, Pisces women crave a strong and stable man who can take her under their wings. Not that she is not independent or capable- au contraire! But nothing is more attractive to a Pisces woman than a strong partner who entertains and amuses her but also provides consistency and a sense of purpose. While Will’s birthday is unknown let’s help she has found this in him! And let’s hope that she learns from recent events and chooses her wedding date wisely!

The Aquarius Leo Love Story

Opposite signs are notoriously attracted to one another and often forge some of the most enduring and happy relationships. Take for example the beloved royal Cancer/Capricorn couple William and Kate, and globetrotting Sagittarius/Gemini glamorpusses Brad and Angelina.

Well it just so happens that Brad’s former love, Aquarius Jennifer Aniston, has finally found herself in the arms of a Leo man, Justin Theroux, giving her a chance for love with her opposite sign. Justin and Jen have been attached at the hip since hooking up earlier this summer. And they have also been palling around with another Leo, Justin’s friend photographer Terry Richardson (Who took this photograph of them in September).

Aquarians are amongst the most determined, stubborn and routine-oriented members of the zodiac. By the time they are adults they tend to have found their niche, usually one that very few others occupy, and they stake out their territory and dig their heels in. Rinse and repeat. Their niches/lifestyles however, tend to be anything but ordinary. Take Jen for example, who has corned the market on rom-coms, yoga, healthful living, Cabo, and bad-boy boyfriends. Like all Aquarians, she is hardworking, future oriented, and committed to her path.

Leos are the perfect counterpoint to the driven and independent Aquarius. Also incredibly creative and purposeful, Leos can relate to the Aquarians commitment to creating a world and life of their own imagining. Yet Leo’s thrive in warmth and family. We can think of the heat and revelry of the month of August, when Leo thrives, juxtaposed with the privacy and isolation of February when Aquarius rules the days. Jennifer and Justin were born just about exactly 6 months apart, though in different years. Jennifer, on February 11 (1969), and Justin on August 10 (1971).

Moon signs rule our emotional nature, and both Jen and Justin have their moons in impulsive, extravagant and fun loving fire signs, Sagittarius and Aries respectively. These two place a premium on enjoyment in their relationship. And certainly her many fans are happy to see Jen enjoying her life!

Astrological Anatomy of a Bad Marriage

August 20, 2011. Montecito, California 6 pm **(approximately)

I considered posting in August about the incredibly inauspicious aspects prevailing on the day that Kim Kardashian walked down the aisle with Kris Humphries, but I thought it mean spirited and pessimistic. Alas, the world was decidedly NOT shocked when Kim announced yesterday that she was ready to divorce her newly minted groom. While there are many theories as to exactly why this marriage was rushed into existence, and then promptly out of it, the fact remains that the date chosen for the nuptials was  extremely ill conceived. Simply put: some days are better to marry than others. Period. A look over their wedding chart reveals a wealth of things to avoid if you desire happily-ever-after.

MERCURY RETROGRADE: Astrology pros and novices alike are aware of the cardinal rule of astrological planning: Do nothing of great importance when Mercury is retrograde. Mercury rules all contracts, plans, communication and correspondence. Marriage being a legal contract, we are not advised to marry during Mercury Rx lest that contract is undermined. Additionally, a Mercury retrograde marriage will strain communication between the couple.

VENUS OPPOSITE NEPTUNE: Venus is the planet of love and beauty. Having Venus strong in the chart of a marriage is incredibly helpful to ensure harmony and peace for a couple. Venus was extremely debilitated in the chart of this marriage. At 29 degrees Leo, it was preparing to transit out of Leo and into Virgo (within the next 24 hours). It was also in direct opposition to Neptune, the planet of illusion, fantasy and deception. This perfectly describes the dramatic, extravagant, fantasy-inspired over the top “made for TV” style of the wedding (and the marriage). Like many things associated with Neptune, it was not in fact real but actually an illusion.

BAD MOON ASPECTS: The moon is by far the most important planet (luminary) in wedding astrology. With rulership over emotions, feelings and relationships, it is essential for the moon to be well positioned to avoid drama in a relationship. The moon moves very quickly, spending about 2.5 days in each sign (as opposed to the sun which spends a whole month in each sign). During the time that it is in a sign, Taurus in the case of Kim’s marriage, it makes a variety of different aspects to other planets before moving on. The aspects it makes immediately AFTER the moments the vows are exchanged show the emotional character of the marriage.

In this case the moon was making ONLY bad aspects- squares- after the wedding as it moved through Taurus towards the following sign, Gemini. Squares show difficulty finding middle ground and resolving conflict. First it became square with Mercury, further complicating the communication problems. Next the moon squared the sun in Leo, showing a conflict between the emotional desire to enjoy luxury and comforts (moon in Taurus) and the primal need for attention and admiration (Sun in Leo). Finally, the moon squared the Venus/Neptune opposition showing the essential instability of a marriage built on illusion and fantasy.

SO WHY DID THE MARRIAGE FAIL?

With so many planets in fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, and Aquarius) we see extreme stubborness within the relationship. The problem here was that Kim, the celebrity, expected that Kris would go along with what she wanted. Yet, what she did not anticipate was that Kris started to see himself as a star.

In a wedding chart, the groom is represented by the sun and the bride by the moon- yet another reason why the square between these two planets is so detrimental. Kris, represented by Leo, started to see himself as the star, the essential missing piece to Kim’s fairytale life.  He thrived with the fame and attention. Kim, represented by Taurus, was extremely set in her ways and wanted to continue to live la vie luxe as usual without making any kind of lifestyle accommodations for her status as a newlywed (case in point: living with her husband in a hotel suite with Kourtney, Scott and Mason).

Kim is a Libra, the sign of marriage and partnership, showing her great desire to be coupled up. Kris is a stubborn and independent Aquarius. Both air signs, the two are fundamentally compatible. Yet, rushing a wedding and picking a bad date clearly did not bode well for this pair.
