Fans of “Harry Potter” won’t be surprised to learn that the series mega-author is knowledgeable when it comes to astrology. Joanne Rowling, born on July 31, also writes her hero’s birthday as the end of the same month and cast fellow Leo, Daniel Radcliffe, born July 23, to bring him to life on the big screen. Only a dedicated, loyal and courageous STAR, like a Leo, can overtake the Dark Lord and make things right (or single handedly resurrect youthful enthusiasm for reading). Jessica, Joanne’s eldest child, was born on July 27, 1993. The themes of stars, symbolism, astrology and divination are at the very heart of the story.

In early 1994, as she was struggling to write the first Harry Potter book as a single mother in Scotland, Joanne was also working on another creative project: a beautiful hand drawn birth chart for the newborn child of a friend. Jack David Buchanan was born on February 19, 1994. At the time the sun was in Pisces, the moon was in Gemini and the sign of Leo was rising on the ascendant. Joanne drew an illustrated cover for the chart incorporating the water theme of Pisces, the dual theme of Gemini, and the lion who represents Leo.
